Unidentified boy next to a memorial stone to Dr Leonard Cockayne, Otari Gardens, WadestownOriginal caption from Evening Post newspaper, 25 July 1951, reads: "Weighing between 10 and 12 tons, this stone was yesterday taken by a contractor, Mr G Wagstaff, from a steep hillside at Belmont to Otari Gardens, Wadestown. There it will be placed on foundations and an engraved plate inserted, to serve as a memorial to the late Dr L Cockayne world-famous botanist, who is buried in the gardens." Evening Post photograph.
