The French warship 'La Vire' in Otago Harbour. She was a barque-rigged steamer sloop of 1625 tons, built at L'Oreuil in 1871. She took a French expedition to Campbell Island in 1874, and was present at the wreck of the ship Surat, at Catlins River, January 1874. Photographed by David Alexander De Maus.
