Abbot, John, 1751-1840 :Hiccory moth. [ca 1820]

Two light brown hiccory moths in flight, one with black spotted top wings, shown with pupa and caterpillar. According to artist's notes `Feeds on the Juglans mucronata and the other Hiccory's. Spun up in the leaves 5th June, bred 24th, another spun up 30th July, bred 17th August. The moth may be met with in the Oak woods but is not very common'.
