The crosswort moth in flight, shown with pupa and caterpillar. According to artist's notes 'Taken on the Aster paludosus but feeds most frequent on Crosswort, and grass. Went into the ground 9th Sepr., spun up in a case of dirt, bred 7th May and is not common'.
