Abbot, John, 1751-1840 :Great tobacco sphinx [ca. 1818]

Shows the great tobacco sphynx moth. According to the artist's notes `Feeds on the Night shade, prickly nightshades, tobacco and Irish potato. The moth flies in the evening and sucks the blossoms of gourds, cotton etc and is not common'.
