Original caption in New Zealand Free Lance, 16 August 1939, page 8 reads: "Gisborne Provincial Plunket Conference: Last week was a busy one for Plunket-minded folk in Gisborne when the biennial provincial conference was held. Added interest was the presence of Dominion officials from Dunedin. In the group, front row, from left: Mrs James Blair (president of Gisborne branch), Miss G Hoddinott (Dominion secretary), Mrs James Begg (Dominion president), Mrs McClurg (Napier), Mrs T Y Cuthbert (Gisborne patroness) and Mrs Harris."
