Drawings in the 'New Zealand Graphic', 1890, no 25, page 15, depicting the leading performers in a 1890 production of Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Yeoman of the Guard". Shows a headsman, Sergeant Meryll (played by H M Imano), Fairfax (played by C M Leumane), Point (played by William Elton), Elsie (played by Miss Clara Merivale), Phoebe (played by Miss Fanny Liddiard), and Wilfred (played by Howard Vernon). Artist unidentified. Making New Zealand caption reads: "Also popular with New Zealand theatre-goers were the light operas of Gilbert and Sullivan. Here are the leading performers in 'The Yeoman of the Guard', in an 1890 production."
