Original caption reads: "Yamaguchi [Japan]. Japanese labourers are hard at work under the supervision of members of the New Zealand advance party preparing the barracks for occupation by New Zealanders [of J Force]. Increased washing facilities were necessary, so Japanese plumbers were set to work installing many new wash basins." Photograph taken between 1946 and 1948 by a New Zealand Army photographer.
