Shows small carved wooden Maori figure (head and shoulders) on a stick. The other end has a groove or reservoir, perhaps for ink. Alternatively the object may be a whistle or pipe.The object may be a pou whakapakoko, "a wooden peglike object with the top carved like a head, used as a taumata atua to which incantations were addressed" (See He Puna Kupu Maori)
