Historical Notes: The seaplanes are Wight Type A 1 Improved Navyplane, No 172 (left), and Short Type 135, No 136 (right). They are on the deck of the British Navy's first aircraft carrier, HMS Ark Royal, which at the time was at Lemnos. (This photograph also appears in "The Wight Aircraft", Michael H Goodall, Gentry Books, London, p 37)
