Historical Notes: The aircraft is a Sopwith Admiralty Type 807, commonly called a Sopwith Folder as its wings could be folded back for storage on board warships such as the first Bristish aircraft carrier, HMS Ark Royal. Twelve of these aircraft were made in two batches numbered respectively 807-810 and 919-926. The first were delivered in July 1914. The plane in this photograph was number 922 of the second batch.
