Historical Notes: The seaplane is Short Admiralty Type 135, No 136. In 1915 No 136 was one of the seaplanes on board HMS Ark Royal. This machine had folding wings so that it could be stored on warships. It also had radio, a Lewis gun and could carry two 100-lb, and three 20-lb bombs. (Info from "The Wight Aircraft", Michael H Goodall, Gentry Books, London, p 37)

Inscriptions: Inscribed - Verso - Capt. Kilmer. Short 136. This is the machine & pilot that did such great work at Duxhaven(?). I met him some days ago. HTB
