Original caption reads: "N.Z.E.F. in Japan. Shimonoseki. This scene is becomming rather familiar at Shimonoseki railway station. These are two of a party of fifty Korean illegal immigrants who are being repatriated to the port of Fuzan on the south east coast of Korea. The immigrants who are arrested on their arrival in Japan are sent to a holding compound at Senzaki until there are enough to ship back to Korea. The Koreans travel in special carriages and are handcuffed together in pairs, each pair is guarded by a member of the Japanese civil police. The New Zealanders in the picture are checking the prisoners as they leave the train." Photographed by an army photographer.
