Tremain, Garrick, fl 1970s-2000s:It's such an honour to be chosen to carry the torch, George...but shouldn't there be a bit more than that to your training? Sunday Star Times, 21 May 2000.
Reference Number: H-614-008
A middle-aged couple are sitting in sagging armcahirs in front of their television. Their fat, old cat is sprawled on his back at their feet. The wife looks up from her knitting to ask her overweight husband who is slumped in his chair and holding up a large battery torch in one hand whether he should not be doing more to train for his part in the relay carrying the Olympic torch. There was controversy, in both New Zealand and Australia, about some of those chosen, or not chosen, to run with the Olympic torch in the weeks prior to the Sydney Games.
