A doctor diagnoses the condition of a man, being held up by his wife, who is slumped in a prone position, goggle-eyed and holding a beer can. The doctor goes on to recommend "Kept warm and fed he should begin to function again in a week or so!". With increasingly spectacular, round-the-clock TV coverage, the Olympics had become compulsive viewing.
