Historical Notes: In 1887, shortly after their marriage, Lydia and William moved to Napier. They quickly began work on transforming the front garden of their Carlyle Street cottage into a vegetable and flower patch. Lydia and Pogs, the dog, pose amidst the beginnings of their labour.
