Historical Notes: An image of this carving was published in the book `Maori Wood Sculpture' by Terence Barrow, Reed, 1969, page 77. The accompanying caption states that it was originally from the porch of the meeting house Rangitihi, at Taheke, Lake Rotoiti, and that it was (in 1969) held in the Leningrad Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology.
