Tremain, Garrick, 1941-: A heart-warming sight at these games is the little kiwi guiding his now sight-impaired friend around the city. Otago Daily Times, 29 August 1994.

Reference Number: H-629-001

The kiwi, with just a few Commonwealth Games medals around its neck, is guiding the kangaroo, who can no longer see because of the number of medals strung around its head, into a manhole. New Zealand had very lean pickings at the 1994 Commonwealth Games held in Victoria, Canada. Australia won 50 medals, including 22 golds, while New Zealand managed only 10, with only 2 of them gold.
