Contrast between the economic performance of Australia (positive) and New Zealand (negative) over 1984-1990 period. Exhibition caption reads - New Zealand introduced a rigid, New-Right regieme in the mid-1980s, beginning with 'Rogernomics' and reinforced by 'Ruthomania'. Australian policies were more pragmatic and driven more by commonsense than ideology. There, the government continued to play a role in areas where, across the Tasman, responsibility was handed holus-bolus to the private sector. Australia's economy thrived while New Zealand's shrivelled.
