[Sitka spruce on Campbell Island, allegedly planted by Lord Ranfurly], [ca 1958]
Reference Number: PA12-1425-054
Allan Dodds (ionosphere observer) with a Sitka spruce allegedly planted by Lord Ranfurly on Campbell Island. Photograph taken in the late 1950s by George Poppleton.
Extent: 1 colour original transparency/ies35 mm colour slide. Single transparency
Historical Notes: Encrement boring conducted in 1963 revealed that the tree was germinated about 1922. As Lord Ranfurly's term as Governor expired in 1904, it is unlikely that he planted this tree.
