Historical Notes: Noel Masters was born in Wellington and grew up in Berhampore. Before WW11 he went to Sydney and volunteered for the AIF where he served as a sergeant and acting captain in North Africa and Crete where he was captured. He was a POW for four years. Came back to New Zealand after the war and became a dairy farmer inland from Hokitika, later moving to Tauranga.
