Shows Bertha (Arbuthnot) Burnett in 1829, aged about 27, possibly just before the date of her marriage to Samuel Burnett. Painted in Edinburgh. She is dressed in green and is wearing a lace cap and collar

Historical Notes: Samuel Burnett had a sawmill at Taita and supplied the timber for the first wharf in Wellington. He and his wife Bertha arrived in Wellington in 1840 aboard the "Bengal Merchant", both aged 28, according to the passenger list
