Historical Notes: Note on back of file print reads "...The priest was one of the many people of the town who gave great assistance to NZers during and after the battle for Crete." Father Roumeliotis saved the men of Galatas from execution by the Germaqns, by persuading a captured paratrooper to write home explaining that he had been well fed and treated by the village.
