Heaphy, Charles 1820-1881 :[The home of Mr & Mrs William Bishop, Maitai Valley] [1844?]
Reference Number: A-144-011
Shows William and Anna (nee Fife) Bishop seated in the front garden of their new house. The house has a curved driveway and front lawn with flower beds round the lawn, beside the drive and in front of the house. There are hills and large trees behind the house. The house may be in Nile Street, rather than the Maitai Valley.

Historical Notes: William Bishop and Anna (nee Fife) were married in September 1844 (see TL 3/1/1, 29 April 1981). They owned land in the Maitai Valley, but are not known to have built there. A family member (Clemency Bryant, visited 22/5/2000) suggests this scene may be in Nile Street, Nelson, where the couple had a home. However the hills behind do not fit with this suggestion.
