Historical Notes: The room may be older, but several items of furniture such as the oak "Morris" chair on the left, the fire surround, fire screen frame, and fender on the right, are all in styles that began to become general in New Zealand between 1905 and 1910. The style of the wallpaper and the narrow wallpaper frieze suggest that the photograph may have been taken later, say between 1915 and 1920
