Bent, Thomas, 1833?-1887 :[Coast scene with volcano in Tanna, Vanuatu, 1857-1858].
Reference Number: A-282-032
Shows a two-masted ship betwen an island or headland at the left, and the main land mass at the right. There are cliffs down to the sea at the right, and a steaming volcano at the far right, with higher hills in the background. See also A-282-027, which appears to be a view from the left of this picture, looking towards the right. This may be Efate - see A-282-030, which also depicts a cliff along the coast. Or it may possibly be the thermal springs on the east end of Tanna near Port Resolution and Mount Yasur. There is also a North Vate volcano, and one at Traitor's Head Erromanga.
