Inscriptions: Inscribed - On album page - beneath image: Island Bay in 1918. Tapu-te-ranga islet was once the site of a small refuge pa of Ngati-Ira, and the famous chieftainess, Tamairangi, wife of Whanake, was resident there. The small hill on the islet (a residual of the marine abrasion that cut the shore-platform) is identified as the Patawa rock of tradition. 7.3.18
