The Monowai's first-class lounge, with sofas and easy chairs, table (possibly intended as a card table) and smaller chairs, and in the background two bookcases flanking a large mural, with a clock in its centre. The mural depicts facets of New Zealand and possibly Australian history, including a Maori chief, and animal that could be a kangaroo and another person possibly intended to represent an Aboriginal.
