Photograph of Jack Lovelock having his heartrate broadcast on the BBC National and Empire programme, 6 Sep 1937

Reference Number: MSX-2263-009

Photograph showing Jack Lovelock in front of a microphone having his heartbeat recorded. He was recorded at rest and then again after jumping up and down thirty steps. The programme was recorded at King's College Hospital, London, where the measuring device had recently been perfected. The original intention was to also transmit the heartbeat of the hospital dog, but the scrapbook containing this photograph does not record if this took place.
