German Foreign Minister von Ribbentrop reassuring Stalin (on the left). Stalin has received no medals or Orders, whereas, to the right, a black man is wearing a sash marked Lord of Africa, a Goth or Hun representing Germany is wearing Lord of Europe and a Japanese man is wearing Lord of Asia. Refers to the Pact between Germany, Italy and Japan, which declared a 'New Order' whereby each would have its sphere of influence, with the balance of power in the Nazi-Soviet accord now changed to Moscow's disadvantage. Von Ribbetrop's comments to Stalin mask an implied threat against Russia from Germany, two months before this came to pass.
