Text purports to give the programme for a concert starring Bowen and Beswick. However, it is a satirical political poster commenting on two of the contestants for the Kaiapoi seat in the 1875 general election, Charles Bowen and Joseph Beswick. The election coincided with the 25th jubilee of the Canterbury Province. Bowen won, but not by as large a margin as the poster predicted."Songs" featured in the concert include "Charlie is my darling", "How many legs has a sheep", "Not for Joseph", "Kaiapoi was glad when they departed".
