Historical Notes: The Wellington and Manawatu Railway Co. locomotive no 6 was a "V" class engine (2-6-2 type) was built by Nasmyth, Wilson & Co., Manchester (maker's no 282/85) in 1885. In 1908, when the Manawatu Railway was acquired by the Government, this locomotive was renumbered NZR "V" 450.
