Pearse, John 1808-1882 :[Rimutaka and Wairarapa scenes]. Cutting on the Rimutaka. 1st Sept 1854.

A cutting, shortly after the formation of the Rimutaka Hill Road, with cleared tree trunks and the road curving. A Maori family are walking a horse along the road and a steep, heavily bushed hill rises behind the road.
