Historical Notes: The hill on which the Cathedral stands was bare until 1861, when the Provincial Government gave money for tree planting. The trees shown are of medium to large size, suggesting several years' growth (or artistic licence) and suggesting a date between 1865 and 1872 for the drawing. Domett returned to England in 1872.
