No 29 - Kaiapoi, Canterbury. Kaiapoi is a small town twelve miles from Christchurch; it is situated on the river Waimakariri, which is navigable for coasting vessels of light draft. The Northern Railaway runs through the town, which is one of active trade. The population numbers about 1500, and the annual rateable value of property is about [Symbol for pounds] 10,000.
