The cartoon shows a bull, Ferdinand of Taranaki, a cow, Mooloo of Waikato, a sheep, Canterbury and a kiwi, the All Blacks, congratulating a New Zealand Universities rugby player. The New Zealand Universities player has a springbok slung over his shoulder and is raising his fist to show his might. Refers to the 1956 Springbok rugby tour of New Zealand. After defeating a number of provincial sides the Springboks were defeated for the first time on tour by the New Zealand universities team. The score was 22 - 15.
