Maori family (ancestors of the Reiri family) outside a whare puni at Mangaakuta, a hamlet near Masterton. The legend of Maui fishing up the North Island is depicted on the gables of the building which is sometimes referred to as the `Maui House'.This house has also been described as being at Manga-a-Kuta pa, Homebush, Masterton, Clancy's Corner, and as "Maori Pah Pipitea Point 1865".
