Scene inside a dwelling, with a seated naked woman and two small children. A naked man covered with tattoos is holding the woman by the wrist, beginning to tattoo her, and a second man, also tattooed, entering the door of the hut, is holding a pig's head as a present for the tattooist. There are several ornaments or tools against the back wall of the house.

Historical Notes: Baron von Langsdorff accompanied Krusenstern on his voyage around the world, visiting Nukuhiva in 1804. This illustration was published in Langsdorff's acount of the voyage, but not in Krusenstern's.
