Work going on most satisfactorily and although so shorthanded there are no arrears. Mr. Cooper and Mr. W.K. McLean likely to be away for some time an officer of the Treasury is assisting at night with the accts of Whitaker who joined AC from Auckland is useful as a copyist the provincial Govt have applied for the services of Mr. Grindell which will make seven of the staff away it is a great advantage having clerks altogether no time is lost have been too busy to write in time for mail
