E mea ana awau kia utua enei whenua, e toru oku, mo te Pakeha. Kua tuhituhia e au ki te pukapuka kei a Makarini e takoto ana. Ki te mea ka poka te tangata ki te utu, a, ki te mea kua whakaae katoa ki te utu i te whenua, kei poka te tangata ki te tango i nga utu o toku wahi, ahakoa ngaro ke ahau. E mohio ana a Makarini naku hoki i korero ki a ia, naku hoki i tuhituhi ki te pukapuka; kei a ia e takoto ana taku pukapuka.

I say that these lands, three of mine, are for sale to the Pakeha. I have written this in a letter which McLean has. If someone appears for the payment, and, if all have agreed on payment for the land, don't let that person take the payments for my part, even if I am away. McLean knows of this; I spoke to him and wrote him a letter; and my letter is with him.
