E hoa, e Te Makarini,

Na, k[i]a rongo mai, kua tae atu ahau ki Rangitikei ki te whakarongo i nga korero a Ngati Apa. Ko etahi tangata e ata whakahaere ana i nga ritenga o te whenua. Ko etahi kihai i tika, erangi kotahi tino kupu na Ringihori e mea ana tana kupu kia homai e ia te whenua ki ahau, maku e hoatu ki a koe.

Now, listen, I have been to Rangitikei to listen to Ngati Apa's discussion. Some people are seriously organising the arrangements for the land; for some it is not right but Ringihori made a thoughtful statement when he said that he would give me the land to hand over to you.
