To McLean

friend greeting to you, do not suppose that I have forgotten you, you have never been absent from my mind, friend listen to these my words to you, I have spoken to the Govenor concerning the payment that I mentioned to you some time ago, I told the Govenor that I would reduce it to £800 for my land, to which he consented, on account of my never having received payment before, this will be the first time I shall have received payment, his consent was very decided - he likewise promised me a saddle for my horse, friend when you arrive at Wanganui, will you come on to Wangaehu.
