Ko 20 Mae 1849

E hoa, e Makari[ni],

Tenei ano taku kupu ki a koe, e mea ana ha[ahau?] te koti[?]. Kei a koe te tikanga mo nga moi [moni?] o te tau. E hoa, e Ma, kua oti te mai mo te hohiho ko tai te waimea hiha te kati [illegible]. Ko te whakapainga iho a enga Eoti ano.

Friend, McLean,

Another word to you, I suggest a coat for me[?]. It is up to you about the money[?] for the year. Friend, Ma, the . . .is finished. . . for the . . . . . That's all. [Letter is largely illegible and so unclear as to meaning].
