Friend,

Greetings to you and your learned council. Friend, listen, we have spoken to the Governor about our discussion here. And the Governor said to us that we should write to you. So here it is.

he taringa poaka o matou taringa. Ka nui te tohe kia oti katoa taua whenua te tuku ki a korua ko tou hoa, ko te Kawana.

E hoa, kia riterite tonu tou whakaaro. Kei wareware koe ki te una [pauna?] kotahi. E hoa, kia hoki ana tou mahara ki muri i a koe. Heoti ano.

Na tou hoa pono ki a koe,
na Wi Tako

Mau hoki e tuhituhi mai kia rongo matou.

we have pigs'ears. We urge the completion of the giving over of all that land to you and your colleague the Governor.

Friend, may you be of the same mind. Don't forget the one pound[?]. Friend, turn your mind back to the past. That is all.

From your loyal friend,
Wi Tako

You write back to us so we will know.
