E tama, e Te Makarini,

Tenei ano taku tikanga. Kia rongo mai koe, ko oku matua kai uta ko Rawiri, ko Hakaraia, ko to matou nuinga, e pei ana i a matou. Ko au e karanga atu ana, e kore au e rongo ki a ratou, no te mea noku ano te whenua. Kai a koe te tikanga o aku korero, mau e tuhi mai kia rongo matou ki tou ritenga. Heoti.

This is my plan. Listen, my elders inland, Rawiri and Hakaraia, the majority, oppose us. But I am calling on you. I will not listen to them because the land is my own. You will understand what I say, but write to me so we will know your arrangement. That's it.
