E hoa ma, e nga Pakeha o tenei taone, e nga rangatira o tenei taone,
Kia rongo mai koutou, e he ana tenei tikanga a koutou, te pupuhi i nga hoiho a koutou a nga Pakeha. He ture ke ano hoki tenei a koutou te pupuhi hoiho. Kua mate ta matou ture i ta koutou, inaianei kua ora ano ta matou ture. E pai ana na koutou ano na nga Pakeha i whakawa te kino.
E hoa ma, e nga Pakeha, kaua e wehewehea to koutou aroha ki a matou, e pai te ata whakarite marire, kei raruraru tatou i te kino. Heoi ano ka mutu.

Friend, Pakeha of this town, leaders of this town,
All of you listen, this habit of yours, the shooting of your, the Pakehas' horses, is wrong. Your law about shooting horses is different [from ours]. Our law was superseded by yours but now our law is revived. And it is all right that you yourselves, the Pakeha, adjudicated on the wrongs.
Friends, Pakeha, don't be divisive in your affection for us; it is good to settle things peacefully so we don't all end up fighting. That's all, the end of it.
From Hone Ropiha
