Tena koe. Tenei ano a matou kupu kia rongo koe. Ko a matou kupu i korerotia e matou ki a korua ko te Kawana, me ta te Kawana kupu, kua korerotia e matou ki etahi o matou, a, kua rongo ratou. Otira, ko etahi kua whakaae me nga wahi nei. Otira, kei rapu tonu koe ki a Tipene, kahore ana pakeke, kua riro mai tana kupu ki runga ki a matou, kua riro atu kei runga kei ta Kawana. Na, kotahi tana i mea ai, kei maumauria e koutou tona whakaaetanga, otira kia pono. Tenei ano tetahi wahi na matou ia te ritenga,

Friend, McLean,

Greetings. This is our message for you to hear. What we discussed with you and the Governor, and the Governor's reply, has been talked about among some of us, and they have understood it. And some have agreed about these parts. But don't go on badgering Tipene, he is not holding out, he has given us and the Governor his word. Now, one thing he said was for you not to disregard his agreement but to take it as true. There is another aspect we would like settled,
