E koro, e Te Makarini,
Tena koe.
No tetahi tekau ma rua o nga ra o Mei, i riro mai ai. Heoi ano.

Greetings. Your love has come to me and my love [goes] to you, living in that land. I am not yet recovered from being ill, I am soon again to see the doctor. But God will decide.
Friend, McLean, I've a question about the foal of this horse, tell me how much, how much it costs[?]. Tell me the cost so I know. I also recall our discussion. Will the payments come back? Tell me so I know if you will be quick; it's over to you. The foal came to me in May, and the house [stable?], it is still being built, it is six days in the building, and as soon as the battens are attached, it will be finished. On the 12th of May, it was brought here. That's all.
