Notebook mainly concerned with the campaign against East Coast Pai Marire forces. Included are lists of Ngati Porou forces under Rapata Wahawaha, who fought for the Government, notes on equipment, notes on General Cameron's actions in the campaign, and other notes, including a discussion about the possible whereabouts of a tomb for the chief named by McLean as Te Kaniotakirau. Daily entries for December describe a visit to Opotiki and reflections of the killing there of the missionary Carl Volkner.
