E tika ana ta koutou tuhituhinga mai ki nga rangatira o Ngati Awa, kia tapahia tenei kara. Ko ta koutou tikanga me pupuru mai i kona, me titiro mai e koutou i kona.

Kua korerotia e nga minita ki a tatou, e nga kaiwhakawa, ma koutou e nga kaiwhakaako e titiro iho tena kupu. Tenei ano te kupu a nga kaumatua, e

Friends, Maori chiefs of Ngati Ruanui,

You were correct in writing to the chiefs of Ngati Awa, that this flag be cut down, and that you must maintain your stance there and look to us from there.
